Over the last few weeks I have been experimenting with paper collage, sometimes adding a bit of paint and mixed media. I have discovered that, although it can be quite difficult and time consuming it is enjoyable and very creative. So, my decision to use collage as inspiration for my Butterflies for Lupus Showcase. Whilst doing some research to prepare a Butterflies for Lupus moodboard, I discovered many talented illustrators and artists who use collage in quite beautiful and original ways. Some of their artwork is included on my ‘Moodboard’ with due credits and links to their Instagram accounts. The moodboard is available as a download on Butterfliesforlupus.com if you would
like some extra inspiration. The images you see in this blogpost are details taken from the moodboard.
Every year in May, I collect butterfly designs to raise awareness for the auto-immune disease Lupus. For the Paper Wings Instagram Challenge I will post a butterfly collage every day on the @butterflies_for_lupus Instagram account. By the end of May I hope to have at least 31 beautiful butterfly designs to create a Butterfly Showcase which I will share on www.butterfliesforlupus.com and on Pinterest in early June.
Of course I hope some of you will join me in the challenge, all you have to do is follow @butterflies_for_lupus on Instagram, then post your butterfly art on your account using the tags #butterfliesforlupus #butterfliesforlupus2020 Your designs will then be automatically included in the final showcase and you will be eligible to take part in a random prize draw. Multiple posts will result in multiple chances to win!
The request is always to create butterfly art of any kind; the only restriction being that the artwork should be original and your own work. Anyone can participate by sending a sketch, illustration, painting, pattern, collage or basically anything that uses butterflies as a theme. Please do not post PHOTOGRAPHS of butterflies.
Thank you for reading this post. The Paper Wings Challenge will be starting on May 1st. You will be surprised how easy it is to show your support and help increase Lupus awareness by taking part in the Butterflies for Lupus Showcase 2020.
Thank you again, I do hope you will consider participating in the showcase.
